WHO WE ARE
We are a group of parents whose beautiful children are diagnosed with severe autism and other neurobehavioral disorders. Most of our kids have comorbid conditions and as a result, we have gone through several neuro-psychiatric and neuro-behavioral hospitalizations.
We know exactly what raising a child with severe problem behaviors is (the good the bad and the ugly). Just like you, we are exhausted, loving parents who have been doing their absolute best to make their challenged kids happy while trying to keep them safe with limited resources for a very long time. We hope our experiences can help bring you some comfort as you walk your own journey.
OUR VALUES
Solidarity
We believe that the suffering, challenges and knowledge that we experienced during our journey can have a positive meaning, if by sharing them with others, we help them feel accompanied and understood on their own journeys.
Compassion
We always trust that a parent’s words, decisions or actions come from a place of love towards their children. This does not make them always correct but the intent always is.
Integrity
We will treat each other with the utmost respect and privacy. We understand that whatever is shared by a parent, must be kept confidential among the present members, unless otherwise specified.
Diversity
We know that severe mental illnesses do not discriminate based on gender, religion, social, political, or economic backgrounds. Neither do we, we work to meet the needs of all members of our community.
OUR VISION
To create a compassionate and safe community free of the stigmas and misconceptions around severe mental illness.
OUR MISSION
To end the emotional isolation that families living with severe problem behaviors experience while empowering them to heal by sharing their experiences and knowledge.
